This collections has come to be the most famous (or infamous) of Munch-Petersen’s production. The young man of the first collection (‘naked human’) has found his mission in life: To free humanity and lead them to ‘the lowest country’, in effect a Utopia.

It was Munch-Petersen’s second poetry collection, and the original was published in 1933 under the Danish title “det underste land”.

I translated Gustaf Munch-Petersen’s collected poems back in early 2013 as a personal tribute, since his poetry has meant a lot to me, and it wasn’t available in English at the time.

The current version of the translations are from 2017, and the file is 65 pages long and contains 41 poems.
