Poems about wanderlust.

You know the feeling of wishing you could go somewhere else? It could be a specific location, or anywhere at all, really. The thing that matters is the urge to go.

Wanderlust is something K-M Skalkenæs is intimately familiar with, and so it is a topic that features regularly in her poetry. She has for long periods of time not been able to move about much for lack of money. So she has been relegated to merely wonder.

These musings have consequently become the content of these poems. They portray the feeling of being stuck in one place – and the urge to explore.

There’s Mist In the Valleys Between the Hills

Posted By K-M Skalkenæs

There’s mist in the valleys between the hills and the sunset sets it on fire. There’s foam on the waves rolling ashore and breaking over the pier. There’s hazy birdsong drifting down towards us on the breeze. There’s less than […]

Spindrift

It’s spinning – the child, the world spins along, around and around to the sound of the song Fugitive of the world in spindrift at speed, dancing around till over it keels, weak But the world keeps spinning, spirals out […]

A Rock for a Diamond

Posted By K-M Skalkenæs

When settled down you had enough and thought you couldn’t bear the thought of staying in one place, that you’d for lack of longing lose your mood – So off you chased, new to peruse, not noticing that as you […]

A Glittering Treasure

What is there hidden, deep within, whose rhythm can be felt when you begin your journey towards me – I think all thought must cease, no thought can no more please one half as much as you, right here beside […]

Roam

Posted By K-M Skalkenæs

Let us roam the Earth together with no plan or destination, travel inwards with eachother with no fear of deviation. Volatile and agile in our pursuit of every height and elevation, entwined by dreams we will endure and go beyond […]

Sunset at Sea

Posted By K-M Skalkenæs

On such a pleasant evening I rejoice in the ocean’s waves’ ancient-old voice as they their thuds against the ship let sound amidst the vast, blue realm which us surround These waves, these North Sea hills and vales which I […]

New Poem: “Crack Open the Sun”

Posted By K-M Skalkenæs

Crack open the sun just to see what’s inside – perhaps a warm and cozy spot wherein to hide? Fly straight up and out of the atmosphere – perhaps it is quiet and peaceful out there? Take out my brain […]
