I bake large and hard breads
for humans
with a sharp and acrid taste –
it is not to make them full –
it is to make them see,
that others too
must force down the sharp mouthfuls,
which tear like sand in the bowels
and which the teeth can’t crush –
to make them rejoice in it
and attain hard jaws
to chew with –
