I haven’t written essays in a long time, and thought I was done with them – which is why I haven’t mentioned anything of the kind in my recent announcements of plans.

However…

The thing about writing, for me, is that planning is difficult. I wanted to finish my serialized novel ‘The Infinite Loop’ – but had to put it on hold because the (almost done) poetry collection ‘Light Requires Darkness’ started writing itself in my head.

Now, I have to put the planned short story collection ‘I MELT’ on hold as well because I started writing something else, which may actually resemble a genre I wasn’t planning to engage in at all – essayistic.

The working title of this new collection in ‘Prosaic Logs’, and I will not be publishing it as a unified collection. Rather, one at a time as things come together. I already have some pieces ready, that I am editing as we speak. They are written as series of fragments, or in listform for the most part. Some are semi-autobiographical, some are just collections of thoughts on given topics and/or according to specific emotions.

I wasn’t planning to do this. But the pieces come to me, and I have to write them down now that I have the opportunity to do so.

What of the Poetry?

For those of you following along, you already know of my upcoming poetry collection ‘Light Requires Darkness’. I can inform you that whatever else happens, this is going according to plan. I have some tweaking and editing to do, and then you will get it served one poem at a time (as suits the online medium).

Whether ‘Prosaic Logs’ and ‘Light Requires Darkness’ will be published simultaneously is an open question. I rather think not since it could create confusion, but I will see what works when I am ready to start.

All the best for now
