Why would a poet choose to write about poetry? Well, why not?
It actually makes perfect sense to reflect on one’s own production / trade in this manner, doesn’t it?
K-M Skalkenæs has written a good deal of poems about poetry – as well as poems about writing in general. It just comes natural when one so often deals with the matter in one’s daily life. Thoughts present themselves and demand to be written down.
While some of the poems reflect on the nature or purpose of poetry (or its consequences), a good many deal instead with how the poet feels compelled to write – and why – and how it feels.
