The feeling of isolation can be a result of feeling lonely – as it was for her. Furthermore, isolation has a tendency to make itself worse. When someone feels isolated, they may draw back from others even more, and thereby make the situation worse for themselves.
This is what happened to the poet at times. She sought out nature rather than human company – and wrote poems rather than speak. When one feels left out of human society, what even is the point of attempting a conversation?
Well, at least poetry resulted from the experience.
