I decided to compile my personal favourites out of my thousand-ish loose poems into three distinct collections, primarily to clean up the clutter and make them more accessible. This is the second of said three collections.
The poems in this collection deal with short moments of peace and tranquility brought on by such things as nature or music – short breathers from an otherwise hectic existence. They can range from the distant view to the hedonistic indulgence – the shared characteristic is the peace and enjoyment of the moment.
The name of this collection might (almost) as well have been “Odes to Beauty”.

The poems were written from 2010 to 2017, and although my writing style changed over time during that period, a remnant of latent Romanticism is an undercurrent throughout this collection – more than anywhere else – as these were poems I wrote inspired by sights and sensations, and as such they are highly emotive compared to my general production.
They express an appreciation for the simple joys and the beauty ever present around us that the vast majority of people have forgotten to look for, but could direly need to
re-discover.

Birdsong

Posted By K-M Skalkenæs

Warble birds your sweet, sweet song. Never stop. Go on. Go on. My heart’s heavy, my song’s spent. My head’s heavy, earthward bent. Sing a song of sweet delight, send it upwards to the light while I wander in the […]
