These are the poems I never felt were fit to be compiled. They adhere to no specific theme I could build a collection around, and / or were never written with the intention of doing so.

However, that does not make them unfit for publication – they just defy categorization.

And so they are assembled here, in their own little archive. Each standing proudly on its own – whether they be rejected from a collection, or just announced themselves unbidded about something specific which I wrote no more about.

The oldest go back to 2010 when I first started writing poetry (“for real”), and new ones will – obviously – be added on a regular basis.

Two Glass Shards

Posted By K-M Skalkenæs

We used to be a bottle before we broke apart. Now we are merely glass shards moved by the ocean’s heart And if we once should happen washed up on the same beach we, by the sea’s erosion, can never […]

New Poem: “The Wait”

Posted By K-M Skalkenæs

I waited for the snowfall but when it finally came the snowflakes melted in the air before they reached the ground and all remained the same. I waited for the sunshine but when I finally caught a beam it had […]

New Poem: “Where Are My Sunsets?”

Posted By K-M Skalkenæs

Where are my sunrises? Where are my sunsets? Where are my days? An endless night has taken their place. Where are all my colours? Where is all the music? Colourless it fades. A blurry image of a world now passes […]

New Poem: “You See What’s In Me Hidden”

Posted By K-M Skalkenæs

You see what’s in me hidden, you know what I will say. You know I’m with you smitten, and yet you stay away. I do not need your arguments and reason has no power; if you don’t share my sentiments […]

New Poem: “The Truest Love Poem I Shall Ever Write”

Posted By K-M Skalkenæs

I’ve loved you since my childhood. I’ll love you till I die. Your immaterial material being has made me laugh and cry. I know each nook and corner, I’ve walked each street and path. And though I’ve left in person […]

New Poem: “A Pocket Full of Empty Space”

Posted By K-M Skalkenæs

somewhere between brevity and perpetuality there is an empty space where our shared memories rest together – never lost and never severed – somewhere between change and constancy, a state beyond expression and beyond the limits of thinking, there is […]

A raindrop on a petal made me jump, and then I stumbled over beauty I have not landed yet and perhaps never will – where will I end up? I do not know it still

New Poem: “Prayer For a Dreamless Sleep”

Many months have I been haunted in my sleep by names and faces, unknown places and I weep upon waking from each nightmare, aching with desire to sink into a sleep, a dreamless void so deep that even the night-time […]

New Poem: “Mimir’s Well”

Long ago, so long ago I can’t remember I made a deal with Mimer, the wise, I did so willingly, not knowing that everything comes at a price. My eye, however precious to me floated away, disappeared in the well […]
