The sticky sweetness of Danish
muffles my English attempts
at feebly thinking aloud –
Danish softness coats my tongue
and turns all speech
into the pleasant hum of home –
and the sticky, heavy drops
condensed on paper
in a foreign tongue
too serve little purpose
but to remind me of home –
